Interview with a rising Virtual Culturalist & Future Entrepreneur, Ms Philosopher

Interview: A Rising Virtual Culturalist & Future Entrepreneur, Ms Philosopher

SM: Do you want me to refer to you as Ms Philosopher or is there a birth name you
prefer?

MS Philosopher: Actually Ms P is great. That is my nickname here in the virtual world

SM: How did you come about the name “Ms Philosopher?”

Ms P: I am a student. I philosophise for school as well as in life.

SM: So who are you? Who is Ms Philosopher?

Ms P: I am a woman that wants to make it big in the virtual world. My interests in the
brick and mortar world are identity, culture and the advancement of social justice.
I brought it with me to the virtual world because I will be more useful here than
there. Further; I can reach more people here on the great WWW.

SM: My friend and I noticed that you are a member of many of the social networks. Is
this how you plan to reach more people?

MS P: This is certainly one way, but there is more than one way, I am sure you
Know this. I am getting my feet wet in the webunities in order to get to know
people and they have to get to know me. I also want them to trust me. After all,
this is the internet. The internet is an extremely new concept compared to the
world at large where we can find many bogus companies, and illegal emails as
well as a wealth of transient people. But how can people be transient on the web
you wonder, right?

SM: Yeah it is a thought taking up space in the ol’ noggin. It seems that we are all
transient as far as the internet goes. We come and go, so are you using the term
loosely?

Ms P: No. In the virtual world, and I will always use the term virtual world for the
internet and brick and mortar or outside for what we term the “real world.” I will
not use the term real world for our world outside of the internet because
both worlds are real. How can we be a part of a world that we give life to if it is
not real. After all, if we never saw the outside world and we lived in the virtual
world shortly after birth, the internet would be our “real” world and out side would
be a virtual reality. This is culture at its finest and where my interests lie. Back to
your question, I think that some people are flakey and wonder aimlessly about the
net, but people do that outside of the net as well. I also think that by nature, there
are people who just like to jump from one spot to another, and this is a fact in both
worlds. I live in Vegas and Vegas is a transient town, well not like it use to be. It
always seemed like people came here to get away from their more serious lives or
maybe to hide or to come live here but then they realized this is not a typical place
to live at all, rather it is a desert with gambling. Who knows what these people
think; my point is that it is my opinion that the virtual world attracts a lot of
transience. This can be very trying when you are out there busting your hump to
make a legitimate business or you are building a webunity and count on people to
join the webunity and think of it as a place to come back to on a regular basis.
Maybe we are not constructing buildings and so forth but just the same…we are
investing time in creating webunities, conducting research for the webunity, we
are designing them and putting forth a lot of effort to make people feel at home.
Do these people feel this way or do they feel like this is not reality? You see, this
is another space for many of us. This is reality and we have to make other people
understand this because we are conducting business and building relationships on
the sheer thought that we are doing so. People can get hurt, and businesses can go
under. Yes this is a chance in both spheres but more so in the virtual sphere.

SM: So you are interested in culture on the internet.

Ms P: I am interested in culture in general. I wanted to extend my interest to the internet due to the time the internet has been alive; you know; it is so novel so
this is the time to make culture and because making culture in a global society is
quite a bit more complex than making culture in a nation I think this is the best
time to nurture culture in the virtual world. We are certainly a diverse bunch due
to the nature of a global society and we may have trouble understanding each other
at times whether in business or in webunities. I am a business owner in the virtual
world, in fact I have more than one business here and the online webunity I am
building offers webunity and business.

SM: I’m glad you mentioned your on line business. I was curious to know what you had
in the works but I didn’t want to jump the gun. So you have more than one business?

Ms P: Yes, I have a virtual assistant shop called ShenanErrands and I offer as I stated
virtual assistants, proof reading, editing, research assistance and freelance
writing/ghost and blog writing. I can write all day and be in my own utopian paradise.
LOL. I also have a business called Create-a-Basket I am almost finished designing the
site. I customize baskets to the needs of my clients. And lastly, I am building an online
webunity and it is going to be large. I mean large. This is called Sewing Social Worlds and
is my paradise. I offer knowledge, I will sell and buy knowledge and I am offering tutoring
services. I hope the other businesses do well because I will let my 2 eldest daughters run
ShenanErrands and Create-a-Basket so that I can give special attention to my lifelong
project-Sewing Social Worlds.

SM: You seem to have a lot on your plate. Do you have help or are you going this alone.
Oh, you mentioned your children, so are they helping you with the business and
your project?

MS P: No they are not helping me. I asked a long time friend to help me. Actually he is
my ex mate. We have a child in common. He is in over his head in his marketing ventures
and does not have the time to help me. I mean he said he would from the beginning and
that he would take a small percentage. I was happy with that and I agreed to it. I said
that I would partner up with him with his marketing venture so then he threw a bunch of
reading material and stuff in my face knowing that I have to read for school and would not
have time to market my businesses.

SM: Is this the friend you said you lost this morning.

Ms P: Yes it is. He is a very dear friend. I know you want the juice, but now is certainly not the time to have this discussion. In fact I have webunities to visit, culture to make, culture to research and business to promote, oh and eBay to visit. I appreciate your taking the time to get to know me.

SM: By the way, my post "The web is here for our taking;" I summarized that post from some of your work. I expect to see you at book signing events in the near future. Will you be available for a second interview so that we can discuss your areas of
interest, identity, culture and these webunities you mentioned? It sounds like you
are aiming to become a consultant or a coach in this “new” field.

Ms P: Yes, I am in a doctoral program because I am interested in not only the credentials
for my books, but I am interested in culture consulting as well as identity counseling and
ah, motivational coaching as well. The social justice interest will fit in there somewhere,
LOL but it is more of an interest for specific projects and curriculum design.

SM: Thank you for sharing your time and story with me. May I contact you this week
regarding a second interview?

Ms P: Oh yes, absolutely

The Web is here for our taking

The web is here for our taking and we are the ones making the culture this time. It seems like we were given another chance to make things right in this world, only we do not need our bodies to do so. No, we just need our minds. This must mean that we are getting closer to realizing just how useless our bodies are in this universe. Our minds get the prize. Maybe it is time we realize just how strong our minds are. Maybe it is time we realize how much we do not have to depend upon our physical beings. Maybe this is our chance to show we are not violent beings when we can’t see who we are communicating with.

How strong are our minds? What can we do with the internet; I mean where can we go and what can we make of it? When we walk into a club, or a library, a supermarket; we know what to look for and we don’t always find what we are looking for so we go elsewhere. What about on the web. Do you really feel as if you are going somewhere or do you just feel like your body is sitting in a chair in front of a computer and the mouse is doing all of the work for you? Come on; you are more than that. Open up and really take a look around and put yourself in a place of virtual reality.

Follow me and you may be able to read interviews when I have the opportunity to talk with some of the really great people out there trying to shape the web and make communities.

Go shopping, visit places, or as Ms Philosopher has it; go community hopping. This Ms Philosopher is making fame, I mean she is a member of about oh give or take…about 75 to 100 communities. I have seen her blogs and pictures of terrorism. Why? Well I haven’t had the opportunity to interview her yet but I gather she is making a name for herself. Maybe trust. This could well be for the community she is building or who knows-maybe the girl is going to run for president. LOL We found her exhilarating as she concentrates on world issues and she makes her rounds, my friend and I found her in a marketing crowd on Twitter. My friend and I well my friend more than me is in the marketing scene, both on and off line.
